Just finished reading it (I know Bakes, you gave it to me a little over a year ago and it took me this long, blah blah…but to be fair I would always read chunks and then get distracted for a few months, its how my life works).
I’d seen the movie and I thought that it was a great film, but reading the book was just… I can’t even describe it.Don’t get me wrong, I love the movie, but the book was just so much better in every way (as books generally are, because let’s face it, most of them are way too detailed for all of it to fit into the 2 1/2 hour timeslot that movies are given). It’s a book that really makes you think about life - there’s beautiful and really morbid, chilling but interesting imagery & concepts, and I respect it tons because “The Vampire Chronicles” is pretty much the origin of this whole modern day vampire craze (*coughcoughStephenieMeyerstolelikeabillionthingsfromtheseriesbutWHATEVERcough*) and it’s about so much more than love and romance — in fact, those are just some small factors of it.
Anyways enough of my biased anti-Twilight rant. I’m going to go out and buy “The Vampire Lestat”, presumably love every bit of it, and then go and buy the next 10 or whatever.
will not regret :)
